Using Manual Mode on an Automatic Vehicle

When you look at the gear stick on automatic vehicles, you may notice that one of the gears is marked with an M. When this is engaged, a driver has some control over what gear the vehicle is in. While this isn't the same type of control a driver has with a manual transmission, it can be beneficial for several reasons.

For instance, those who don't want to wear out their brakes going down a steep hill can activate the manual mode to let the engine do some of the brakings. It can also be beneficial when a car is struggling to get traction on snowy or icy roads.

Using this option may also allow drivers to get slightly better gas mileage. Those who are having issues with their transmission or have questions about it may benefit by visiting our service center at Keller Bros Dodge at your earliest convenience!
